The Hardest Part

Tonight was the hardest part of this whole experience. Nickole and I had to leave Mitchell at the hospital. Fortunately my dad is staying the night with him so we can go to work tomorrow, and he also has Nurse Ron, Nurse Megan, Nurse Lindsey, and the amazing staff at Emanuel Hospital to take care of our son.

You never know when life will smack you in the back of the head and turn things upside down, so live and love every moment to the fullest you have with your friends and loved ones. The night before all this stuff started Nickole and I were headed to the store. I had just come home from work. I was outside talking with Nickole and Mitchell had come outside. He had his coat on and I was already walking to the van, We told him to go back into the house and that we would be right back. Mitchell said, "but I want to hang out with my dad..."

The next day when everything was unfolding and the doctor said, "Tumor." That was the first thing that flashed through my mind..."But I want to hang out with my dad..."

Cherish those small moments, the store will be there tomorrow...

  1. Good work Mom and Dad! Sometimes parenting is about letting go. Besides, who but David could sleep soundly in a hospital? He's downright perky today. You may have found just the guy for these tricky overnight assignments.

  2. Matty,

Ok, you should of said something about having tissue handy. That is very toughing.
Life gives us so many journey's to take and this is just one of them. You have grown into a wonderful Man, Husband, and above all a wonderful Father. I don't know if I've ever told you this or not but "I am so PROUD of you". If we could only of known then (when we were younger) what we know now about life and love. I am so proud that you are my son.

    I Love You,
    Mom :)

I'm so glad to hear that Mitchell is doing well with the treatment. I know it is hard to leave him but you are doing the right thing for your family and you have so much support from family and friends that I know you guys will succeed with grace! 4. Mitch-

Just thinking about you little-man. I'm sure your sister is too. Hope you can get out of the hosp. soon and get back to the middle school grind. I'd like to come and visit in my Chief uniform- all the other kids will be impressed at your high quality visitors :) On Friday, I'm going to an event hosted by the local radio station (KUFO) and sponsored by AMP energy drinks. They'll be giving out alot of AMPs and raffling off a snowboard. Since I dont snowboard, I'll try to win it for ya. Dont know what your AMP policy is, but I may be able to provide the goods!
Hope you can begin each day laughing - it'll help if you ever decide to join the Navy.
Hope we can swap "sea-stories" soon.

  5. Oh, you guys were holding up so good when I was there! Mitchell too. I'm glad I got to come by, even if Mitch thinks I am terrible at Mario Kart. Thinking of you.
